Uniform Information for New Members:

The Auxiliary uniform is similar to the Coast Guard uniform and should be worn when on any mission where you represent the Auxiliary or the Coast Guard.  Each member is responsible for purchase and maintenance of uniforms appropriate to the activities in which they participate.  Some uniform purchases maybe considered tax deductible, check with your tax advisor for the current regulations.

As a new member, you should consider purchasing the Working Blue or the ODU.  This basic uniform, both summer and winter versions, can be worn for most Auxiliary activities.  This uniform, as well as the Service Dress Blue Alpha, Tropical Blue Long and all other options of uniform selection and their appropriate use, is outlined in detail in your Auxiliary Manual.

The Flotilla Personnel Officer (FSO-PS) will be able to guide you on how to order the clothing for your uniform from the Uniform Distribution Center.  Your insignias and devices can be ordered from the District Store or through a number of available Auxiliary and commercial suppliers (see the list above).

Information on uniforms, insignias and ribbons:

The new Operational Dress Uniform (ODU)

  1. The Coast Guard-wide ODU roll-out is now complete in that ODU orders by Coast Guard Auxiliarists are being accepted and processed by the Coast Guard Uniform Distribution Center (UDC) in Woodbine, NJ.

  2. The UDC phone number for placing uniform orders is 1-800-874-6841.  The UDC web site is http://www.uscg.mil/hq/g-w/g-wp/udc/index.htm.

  3. Auxiliarists are strongly encouraged to use the ODU sizing guide (available on the UDC web site under "ODU Uniform") because the ODU outfit is quite different from the working blue uniform. Additionally, working blue uniform items are still available through UDC at significantly reduced costs and they are authorized for Auxiliary wear until no longer serviceable.
